I misread the coco.  It was supposed to be teaspoons but I put tablespoons.  You can never have too much money or chocolate!! 

 

1 1/2 cups  white sugar                                          3 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup shortening                                                  1 teaspoon soda in

2 eggs                                                                          1 cup of warm water                             

1/2 cup milk                                                              1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 tsp vanilla extract                                            

2 cups flour

5 Tablespoons cocoa

*Add soda and water at tend.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  This can be used for cake or muffins.  You can also put in cream cheese filling.

1T Olive Oil                   2 cloves Garlic
1 Onion                           1 rib Celery
1 Carrot                           1 sm potato
1/2 cup Barley                 6 cups Beef Both
1 teaspoon Salt                Pepper
1/2 teaspoon Sage           Steak or Ground Beef 
1 teaspoon Summer
Savory
Spicy?  Add Tabasco and crushed chilies to taste
Fry olive oil, onions, steak, celery and salt until almost brown.  (this adds to flavor).  Add rest of veggies and fry for a few minutes (seals in flavor).  Add rest of ingredients and let simmer for 2 hours or more.  It is edible when barley is tender but the longer you cook it the better it tastes.  The recipe is excellent for a slow cooker.
